Christmas Pix

Here are some pictures from Christmas. I was feeling like I really wanted to get out of town but we were short on time so we decided to just go down to Phoenix for a few days to be with Matt's brother Sean and his cute family. We had the best time and they made us feel so welcome. We decorated a gingerbread house while we were there - we learned that if the frosting that comes with the kit doesn't stick, hot glue will hold it together! (Just a little tip for next year.) We spent Christmas Eve with Matt's other brother Josh in his new, beautiful home. That was such a nice evening - and we came a way winning $50 worth of gift cards to boot! Thanks!!! We snapped a pic of Clay & Andy with Davis and the snowman.
As for some of our great gifts:
The boys got so many wonderful things (Alex's favorite thing was the tissue paper) - the pictures are of them in their new coats and with their matching scooters. Andy loved the silly little dragon blanket that my parents sent him.

Matt got a couple of maps of Prescott that he had admired at a specialty frame shop in town a while ago. It was WAY TOO expensive to buy them from that store but I surprised him and just bought the posters at that shop and frames from Michael's. They turned out so nice and will look great with his wall size map of the world.

My biggest surprise was a crazy little contraption that Matt constructed for me. I spend 8 minutes a day straddled over a mini treadmill that we have for Alex, holding him in a harness over my shoulders, so he can get some walking practice. Matt helps out with this a lot too and he knows what a pain it is. He decided that he would try and build a stand that would hold the harness so we wouldn't have to stand over the treadmill but so we can sit in front of it and help Alex "walk." I had no idea that he was working on this and so when I saw it on Christmas morning all set up - you better believe the water works really got going! It was the sweetest gift ever and it works perfectly! It will be such a blessing to have that funny little stand. Aren't thoughtful gifts just the best?!! I love that guy.

hi adrienne,

i just found your blog through your sister-- who left a comment on elizabeth grandy's, who left a comment on mine-- and i first of all love the family picture with the camo. that is so darling. but secondly, was wondering if you've heard of the book "gifts"? i have a friend who is a writer and has a son with downs and last year she compiled a book of writings by mothers of children with downs.

i have another (different) friend who i got the book for and she has loved it, so, maybe you would like to read it...

i don't know. probably a bit of a presumptuous thought. regardless i have had fun spying on you and your cute family.

What a clever guy. Necessity is the mother of invention. Before you know it, you'll be chasing that little guy down the hallway at church! Glad you guys had a good Christmas, what are your plans for New Year's. My house 7pm, with snack and the kids in jammies? call me!

What a great gift that Matt made for you. I agree that it is wonderful to receive something that someone has thought about. I love the holder and was excited to see what the treadmill looks like. Alex is do cute just dangling there. Love you!
