A Compliment?

Yesterday I was at Costco having an eye exam and choosing a new sassy pair of glasses (I only wear them at the movies and while I drive). I am terrible at decision-making and so I was there a while, trying on many pairs of glasses. There was one particular lady helping me during my visit. When I had settled on a pair she began helping me check out. She asked me a few questions and then asked how old I was. I told her. There was a silence - I looked up at her and her mouth was actually gaping open - she was truly speechless - not kidding. She said that she was asking because she was going to offer me a discount on sport lenses (for kids who are rough on their glasses) for being under 18. Wow. I have been told before that I look young but I have never had someone react like THAT. I told her I had three kids - just to make it worse. Ha! I decided to say that I would take it as a compliment. Although I think that I still need another decade or two on me before I really believe that that is a compliment. Maybe it means that in the long run I will age well - my parents have. I can only hope.

That's funny! I have had people tell me the same thing. When I was at the dentist the other day, the dental assistant said she thought I was in college. She was surprised when I said I have 4 kids. I don't really think I look that young, but I DO take it as a compliment! I'm probably a bit older than you though! :)

I think that is great! I love it when the high school boys whistle, just to realize, I'm driving a minivan with kids in the back! I got the other day when I was somewhere, with a line of just my kids in tow. A lady asked my if they were all mine, and I felt like saying yes, and the rest are in school today. Try that one sometime. It is truly hilarious. The best one was when I happened to be alone while I was pregnant with McKenna and was asked if it was my first baby. No. Second? no. Third? no. Fourth. Yes. They walked away dumbfounded. I don't really appreciate it now, but I will in 10 years (I hope).

haha. That is the funniest thing I've ever heard. Yeah, before I told her; Sister Carrell thought you were 25....lol. People think I'm in the 7th or 8th grade ALL the friggin' time!! I'll walk down the hallways, and teachers will come up to me, and say, "Are you visiting our school, to see what it will be like for you next year?" I'm just like, "yeah." It's too much effort to explain my vertical delay.....

Oh yeah, and before I started voice lessons with her (like,3 months ago) she seriously thought I was 12! and when I was actually 12,(she was new in our ward)she thought I was 8! What the crap!

That is great. People are SHOCKED when they find out how old I am too, although I haven't been told I look 18 for a long time! Here's to aging well...thanks to mom and dad!

That is way funny! Look at you, you sassy Momma! You must be young at heart. The boys look so cute. Post more pics. I have not seen them in so long.
