OK so one of the benefits of having a child with a disability is that you can brag on your child all you want and no one seems to care. Here's my brag for the day: One of our fabulous therapists took some Kleenex boxes and covered them with paper (leaving the opening at the top) and taped a picture of a cat to one box and a picture of a dog to the other. She photocopied about 5 more pictures of the dog and 5 of the cat on cardstock to make flash cards. We have been working with these boxes for a while (but not every single week) showing AVH how to take a flash card and put it in the matching box. He has never seemed very interested in the game or even close to capable of sorting them. For the longest time we have been working on just getting him to let go of the picture as we've helped him place it near the box. But today he sorted through the stack of cards twice and only made ONE mistake - like he had played this game a thousand times! He took a card and not only put it in the box all on his own, but he put it in the RIGHT box!!! We were astounded. The therapist and I were both on the verge of tears - it was SO exciting.

WHoo hoo! I'm clapping right now. That just proves that even though our kids may not show they are paying attention they ARE.
I wanted some photo documentation...
The light and the end of the tunnel is on! Keep up the good work.
yeah!!!! Your hard work is paying off! (: Love the Texas tooth story! I can only imagine!
Go Alex! That is great!
Yippie!! It just shows you once again that Alex works on his own time frame. I can't wait to see him - I'm just afraid that he won't like me (because I don't look like you Ade). I'm hoping with my white hair he'll take pity on his old Ma and give me some hugs.
Looks like you may have a genius on your hands! Watch out world! You might be in for a whole other batch of issues!
That IS exciting! Just like with the pizza at the park the other day. It's like he just decides he's going to do it when he's ready to do it!
I can only imagine the joy you are feeling. What a great accomplishment for your little guy.
That is great!
